About the coach

I really enjoy coaching mid-life male physicians, often empty-nesters, who are feeling ‘lost’ or ‘stuck’, a demographic which particularly resonates with me. As a result of my personal experiences, I provide confidence and mindset coaching for physicians, especially those who have been on the receiving end of workplace bullying. As a former medical director, I also help medical leaders develop kind leadership cultures based on the compassionate, servant and inclusive leadership model paradigms. The underpinning philosophy to both my workplace bullying and detoxifying toxic cultures work, is mental and physical wellbeing, so I do a lot of work in that arena too, especially with professionals who are burning out. Having moved from medicine, to law, then to medical leadership and finally to coaching and training, I have a lot of experience in career transition with which to support others wanting to change or diversify their medical careers. I strongly believe in doing work aligned with my core values (honesty, justice, gratitude, love and humor) and feel that shines through in my work.

Professional background

I am a British-born and trained former family physician now living in New Zealand, qualified attorney-at-law, former medical director x2, ex medico-political leader, medical educator, certified life/leadership/executive coach, current member of two start-up advisory boards, workshop creator and facilitator (mainly leadership and wellbeing topics), upcoming member of board of trustees for a charity, advocate and activist for discriminated-against groups and targets of workplace bullying, and podcaster since May 2022 (‘Inspiring Women Leaders’, https://healthpodcastnetwork.com/show/inspiring-women-leaders/ ).

Personal background

I am married to an attending maxillofacial surgeon with whom I have two young daughters. We moved from the UK to New Zealand in January 2024 to raise our daughters in a healthier environment. I retired from clinical practice in July 2019 when we moved from the UK to Australia for my wife’s fellowship and undertook my life, leadership and executive coach training there. I am a past recipient of workplace bullying ++ which is why working with targets is one of my areas of coaching interest. I enjoy walking outdoors, listening to audiobooks, watching movies and practicing karate.
